Clear liquid conversions, with the assumptions shown
Kilograms to Gallons is an independent, online-only conversion resource. We build calculators and explanatory guides that connect liquid mass and volume through density.
Our story
A kilogram measures mass while a gallon measures volume, so there is no honest one-number conversion for every liquid. This site was created to solve that recurring problem: make density part of the calculation, identify whether a US or imperial gallon is used, and explain the result in plain language.
The project began as a focused calculator and has grown into a library of liquid-specific tools and editorial guides. Our mission is to make everyday planning easier without disguising estimates as certified measurements.
Who we are
We are an independent digital publishing project, not a subsidiary or product of a parent company. Our editorial team combines technical writing, web development, unit-conversion research, and usability review. We do not claim laboratory accreditation, regulatory authority, or professional-engineering status.
See the authors and contributors page and our editorial guidelines.
What we do
Conversion tools
Interactive kilograms-to-gallons and gallons-to-kilograms calculations for common liquids.
Density controls
A custom-density converter for products whose documented density differs from a typical reference.
Educational resources
Worked formulas, tables, measurement cautions, and examples for cooking, shipping, fuels, and manufacturing.
How we approach accuracy
Calculations use the exact definitions of 3.785411784 liters per US liquid gallon and 4.54609 liters per imperial gallon. Density values are presented as typical references or ranges where formulations and temperature vary. Important decisions should use a current product data sheet, measured batch density, calibrated equipment, and applicable professional procedures.
We review formulas, units, worked examples, links, structured data, and build output before publishing. Corrections and material revisions are incorporated as they are identified.
Development workspace
Instead of presenting stock photographs as real staff or offices, we show the calculation workflow behind the product. No fabricated team photos, testimonials, usage numbers, awards, or partnerships appear on this site.
